Phonics

The regular teaching and learning of phonics allows children to decode words more readily and this has a significant impact on reading fluency. To maximise success in your child’s development they will participate in daily group phonic sessions and will be taught the specific phase appropriate to their needs.

We follow RWI, Letters and Sounds and Jolly Phonics schemes across Reception and KS1. Once children are secure in the basic spelling rules, we focus on RWI and Support for spelling in KS2.

Where children experience difficulties with spelling, we offer interventions and support using Toe and Toe and a range of other multi-sensory methods to overlearn the rules and spelling patterns.
